Rural Water Supply
Introduction
The Rural Water Supply Department of the Zilla Parishad Raigad works to ensure safe, adequate, and sustainable drinking water for every rural household, school, and anganwadi in the district. The department functions under the guidelines of the Maharashtra Water Supply & Sanitation Department and implements various State and Central Government schemes.
Main Functions
Implementation of Schemes such as Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), Jalswarajya, and other rural water supply projects.
Planning & Execution of new water supply schemes and upgradation of existing systems.
Operation & Maintenance of rural water supply facilities to ensure continuous service.
Water Quality Monitoring through regular testing to ensure compliance with safety standards.
Community Participation by forming and guiding Village Water Supply & Sanitation Committees (VWSSCs).
Grievance Redressal through platforms like Maha Jal Samadhan.
Major Schemes in the District
Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) – Providing Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) to all rural households with at least 55 liters per person per day.
Dalit Vasti Water Supply Scheme – Focused water supply projects for Scheduled Caste settlements.
Repair, Renovation & Restoration Schemes – Ensuring sustainability of existing systems.

Water connections provided to all schools and anganwadis in the district.
Introduction of water quality testing labs at taluka level.
