    Varadvinayak Temple, Mahad:

    Varadvinayak Temple is one of the eight Ashtavinayak temples of Lord Ganesha. It is said that Ramji Mahadev Biwalkar, the commander of the Peshwas, built (renovated) this temple in 1725. This temple also has idols of Navagraha deities, Shivling and Mooshaka.

    There are four guarding elephant idols on all four sides of the temple. Devotees visit the Varadavinayak Temple sanctuary throughout the year. During festivals like Magh-Chaturthi, this temple is very crowded.
    Varadvinayak Temple is located in Mahad village of Khalapur taluka, near Khopoli village of Raigad district.

    Ballaleshwar Temple, Pali:

    Ballaleshwar Temple is one of the eight Ashtavinayak temples of Lord Ganesha. This temple is located in Pali village and is about 60 km from Karjat in Raigad district. This place is close to Sagargad Fort and Amba River.
    It is said that Moreshwar Vitthal Sindkar (Dighe) renovated this temple in 1640 AD. The temple has an ancient bell which was brought by Chimaji Appa after defeating the Portuguese in the battle of Vasai and Satti. In 1760, the original wooden temple was reconstructed and the stone temple was shaped by Shri Phadnis.

    Harihareshwar Temple, Shrivardhan:

    Harihareshwar is a village in Raigad district of Maharashtra. It is said that the temple of Harihareshwar is blessed by Lord Shiva. Harihareshwar is the family deity or Kuldaivat of the Peshwas. The Peshwas renovated the Harihareshwar temple in 1723 AD.

    Other temples in the vicinity of Harihareshwar include Kalbhairav Temple, Mahalaxmi Temple, etc. Harihareshwar, Shrivardhan and Diveagar are all popular seaside tourist attractions.

    Kanakeshwar Temple, Alibaug:

    Kanakeshwar Temple is 10 km from Alibaug and has an old Shiva temple. This temple is situated on a small hill and the nearby village of Mapgaon is about 10 km from Alibaug. The hill is about 370 meters high and there are 700+ steps to reach the temple. Near the temple, we can see ‘Nagobacha Tappa’, ‘Devchi Payri’, ‘Pushkarni’, ‘Gaymukh’ and ‘Vyaghreshwar’ etc.

    Suvarna Ganesh Temple, Diveagar:

    Suvarna Ganesh Temple, Diveagar is about 75 km from Alibaug. The history of Suvarna Ganesh is very fascinating. A copper box was found in the coconut grove near the temple underground. A gold Ganpati idol and Ganpati ornaments were found in that box. Suvarna Ganesh is an idol of Ganpati and the idol weighs about 1 kg. According to the locals, the Suvarna Ganesh idol is approximately 300 to 400 years old.

    The nearest airports are Lohegaon Airport, Pune and Chhatrapati Shivaji Airport, Mumbai, Maharashtra.

    By Train

    The nearest railway stations for all tourist destinations are Mumbai (CST), LTT, Kurla Terminus, Pune Railway Station and Panvel Railway Station (in Raigad district) on the main lines of Indian Railways. The nearest railway stations of Konkan Railway in Raigad district are Pen, Roha, Veer etc. Panvel Junction is the most important railway station in the district. It is connected to Mumbai (Harbour Line and Central Railway Main Line), Thane (Trans Harbour Line), Roha, Vasai (Western Railway). There is a “narrow gauge” railway line from Neral to Matheran, called the Matheran Hill Railway.

    By Road

    All the major cities and tourist destinations in Raigad district are connected by road via Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) buses. Raigad district is connected to Mumbai by the Sion-Panvel Expressway. The Mumbai-Pune Expressway and National Highway 4 pass through Panvel, Khalapur and Khopoli. National Highway 17, which starts at Panvel, passes through the entire district via Poladpur.
